Styling and image consulting aren’t conventional career choices. Was this always your dream profession?
September 8, 2025Diana reflects on her transformation from the structured world of banking to the dynamic realm of personal styling.
Starting can be the most daunting step in any major life change. What motivated you to take the leap into styling?
My journey into fashion styling began as something deeply personal—a genuine passion for helping others discover their best selves through clothing. I noticed that people around me struggled with wardrobe decisions, whether for special events or everyday situations. Initially, I focused on helping women, but I quickly realized men faced similar challenges and equally deserved guidance.
What started as a fulfilling hobby evolved into something more when life circumstances shifted. After losing my corporate position, I found myself at a crossroads. I was exhausted by the traditional 9-to-5 grind and decided it was time to transform my passion into my livelihood.
Styling and image consulting aren’t conventional career choices. Was this always your dream profession?
Fashion has captivated me since childhood, though the path wasn’t always clear. Growing up, the fashion industry seemed limited to three main roles: tailoring, designing, or retail. None of these traditional routes spoke to me—I’m certainly not gifted with needle and thread! However, I recognized a gap in the market: people needed guidance understanding what styles complemented their bodies and suited various occasions.
My academic journey led me to earn a marketing degree, though it never truly sparked my interest. My first professional role was in banking, which proved to be one of the most challenging periods of my career. The rigid systems and predetermined processes felt suffocating to someone with my creative spirit.
When I stepped away from corporate life to focus on raising my children, I explored interior decorating as a side venture—partly to maintain financial independence and partly to nurture my creative side. As my children grew older, I returned to the corporate world while simultaneously launching a shoe import business, which allowed me to connect with women’s fashion needs on a different level.
